In Apr 1723 John Gartrel and Arthur Fox took inventory of the goods and chattels of Charles Richards of Illogan, tinner.
John was bequeathed a shilling in his mother's Will (written 1727). She also willed that, should John outlive his brother Henry, then what she had bequeathed to Henry would pass to John. Henry Gartrell died in 1729.
In Mar 1728/9 John Gartrell and John Davey took inventory of the goods and chattels of Arthur Bryant of Illogan, tinner, deceased.
In 1729 John Gartrell paid £2 16s. 6d. rates in Illogan.

Gives and bequeaths 5 shillings each to the four children of his sister Elizth. Richards.
Gives and bequeaths 20 shillings to his sister Cordelia Vivian.
Gives and bequeaths 5 shillings to his niece Jane Hockin.
Gives and bequeaths £10 to his niece Elizth: Wise.
Gives and bequeaths an annuity of 20 shillings to Mary Vivian the wife of Henry Vivian for as long as she may live.
All the rest of his goods and chattels he gives and bequeaths to his niece Mary Gartrell whom he nominates and appoints sole executrix of his last will and testament.
