At the time of the 1851 England Census George Carey, age 16, born in Ringmer Sussex, farm labourer, was with his parents in Norlington Broyle, Ringmer Sussex.

At the time of the 1861 England Census George Carey, age 26, born in Ringmer Sussex, farmer's ag labourer, and wife Mary E., age 24, born in Hurstmonceux Sussex, were living in Cottage, Broyle Mill, Ringmer Sussex. With them was son George E. (2) of Ringmer. George's parents were living nextdoor.

At the time of the 1871 England Census George Carey, age 36, born in Ringmer Sussex, farmer of 40 acres employing 1 boy, and wife Mary E, age 34, born in Hurstmonceux Sussex, were living in Ringmer Sussex. Present were children (born in Ringmer): George (12), scholar, Henry J (9), scholar, Harriett (6), scholar, John (4), scholar, and William (1).

In Oct 1873 George Carey of Ringmer, farmer, was the sole executor of the Will of his late father Joseph Akehurst Carey of Ringmer.

At the time of the 1881 England Census George Carey, age 46, born in Ringmer, married, farmer, was at the Eye Infirmary due to imperfect eyesight in 102 & 103 Queens Rd., Brighton Sussex. Wife Mary E Carey, age 44, born in Hurstmonceux Sussex, and children (born in Ringmer) Henry J (19), farmer's son, Harriett (17), William (11), scholar, Frederick (8), scholar, Charles (6), scholar, and Annis (3), were in Broyles Lane, Ringmer Sussex.

At the time of the 1891 England Census George Carey senr., age 56, born in Laughton [sic], farmer, and wife Mary, age 53, born in Hurstmonceux, were living in Broyle Side Farm, Ringmer Sussex. With them were children (born in Ringmer): William (21), grocer's assistant, Charles (16), Annie (13), and Kate (9), scholar. George's son, George Carey junr., and his family, were at the same address.

In Sep 1899 George Carey was present at the marriage his daughter Annie Carey to Henry Herbert Fuidge in Brighton St. Peter.

At the time of the 1901 England Census George Carey senr., age 66, born in Ringmer, working farmer, and wife Mary E, age 63, born in Hurstmonceux, were living in Ringmer Sussex. Present were children (born in Ringmer): Fred (28), farmer's son, Charles (26), carter on farm, Kate (19), domestic. Son George Carey junr. and his family were at the same address.
