At the time of the 1871 England Census Mary Mockett, age 50, born in Lewes Sussex, widow, farmer of 156 acres employing 4 men & 1 boy, was living in Pollhills House, Arlington Sussex. With her were children (born in Alciston, single): Jane (18), Mercy (16), Rose (8), George Vinal (6), and Mary Frazyer Bradford (24), married.

At the time of the 1881 England Census Mary Mockett, age 60, born in Lewes Sussex, widow, retired farmer, was living in Polly? Hills House Arlington. With her were daughters Mercy Body (26), widow, housekeeper, and Rose Mockett (18), lady assistant. Son William M Mockett and his family were in the farm house.
