At the time of the 1881 England Census Mercy Body, age 26, born in Alciston, widow, housekeeper, was with her widowed mother in Polly? Hills House Arlington.

At the time of the 1891 England Census Mercy Clarke, age 37, born in Alciston Sussex, and husband Albert Clarke, age 31, born in Crokam Hampshire, Sapper Royal Engineers, were living in District Cambridge Barracks, Portsmouth Hampshire. With them were their son Albert Edward Clarke (1) of Southsea Hampshire, and Mercy's children from her first marriage (born in Arlington Sussex): Mary Body (15) and William Body (14).

At the time of the 1901 England Census Mercy Clark, age 43, born in Ailston Sussex, and husband Albert Clark, age 40, born in Cosham Hampshire, Sapper R Engs., were living at 4 Westcourt St., Chatham Kent. With them were children (born in Southsea Hants): Albert E (11), Mercy (9), Thomas H (8).

At the time of the 1911 England Census Mercy Clarke, age 54, born in Alciston Sussex, and husband of 23 years Albert Clarke, age 48, born in Cosham Hants, carpenter (out of employment), Army pensioner, R.E., were living at 5 Ward Rd., Eastney, Portsmouth Hampshire. With them were children (born in Southsea Hants): Albert (21), grocer's porter, Mercy (19), general daily servant, and Thomas Henry (18), carpet layer.

CLARKE.—May 17th, at 2, Langstone-road, Milton, Mercy, the dearly beloved wife of Albert Clarke, and daughter of the late Thos. Mockett, farmer, of Arlington, Sussex, passed peacefully away after much suffering, aged 58.
