In 1743 Thomas Hulbert of Wootton Bassett, gentleman, and Paul Forrester, Clerk of Wootton Bassett, were trustees of the Will of their friend William Short of Wootton Bassett, gentleman.

Abstract of the Will of Thomas Hulbert of Wotton Bassett in the County of Wilts, Gentleman, written 8 Mar 1739/40, proved 10 Apr 1744. 3
Confirms a deed poll dated 29 Sep 1735 in which he assigned in trust to Oliffe Richmond of Ashton Keynes in co. Wilts, esquire, for the testator, and after his death, for his daughter Betty Hulbert, a bond bearing the same date, entered into by Robert Beale of Corsham in co. Wilts, esquire, for the sum of £1,000.
Gives and bequeaths to his three children Thomas Hulbert, John Hulbert and Betty Hulbert £200 each, and £10 to his daughter Jane Cruse, to be paid to them after the decease of his cousin Joane Bennett, according to the last will and testament of Christian Bennett of Rosborough in co. Gloucester, mother of the said Joane.
Gives, devises and bequeaths to his said four children Thomas Hulbert, John Hulbert, Jane Cruse and Betty Hulbert all his real estate in the county of Gloucester and within the borough and parish of Wootton Bassett, as tenants in common and not joint tenants.
Gives, devises and bequeaths to his said son Thomas Hulbert all his freehold manors and tenements wherever located.
All the rest and residue of his goods, chattels and personal estate he gives to his said son Thomas Hulbert, appointing him sole executor of his last will and testament.
