At the time of the 1861 England Census Maria Lock, aged 70, born in Hastings Sussex, widow, annuitant, was living at 1 Standens Row, Ore Sussex. With her was daughter Esther (26) of Hastings, unmarried, needlewoman.
At the time of the 1871 England Census Maria Lock, aged 80, born in Hastings Sussex, widow, formerly tailor's wife, was with her unmarried daughter Ann M Lock (50) of Hastings, confectioner employing three men, at 50½ George St., St. Mary in the Castle, Hastings.

DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT.—Mrs. Lock, widow of the late Charles Hock, and who lived for many years in High-street, died at her daughter's in George-street, this week. The deceased who was greatly respected, and very generally known among the old residents, had attained the green old age of 84.
December 8th, at the residence of her daughter, 51, George-street, Hastings, Maria, widow of the late Mr. Charles Lock, in her 84th year.
