At the time of the 1851 England Census Ann M Lock, aged 30, born in Hastings Sussex, unmarried, was working as a lady's maid at 9 Croft, Hastings St. Clement.
At the time of the 1861 England Census Ann Maria Lock, aged 40, born in Hastings Sussex, unmarried, was working as a shop assistant for confectioner Chas. Vickery at 50½ George St., Hastings St. Mary in the Castle Sussex.
At the time of the 1871 England Census Ann M Lock, aged 50, born in Hastings Sussex, unmarried, confectioner employing three men, was living at 50½ George St., St. Mary in the Castle, Hastings. With her was her mother Maria Lock (80) of Hastings, widow, formerly tailor's wife.
At the time of the 1881 England Census Ann Maria Lock, aged 60, born in Hastings Sussex, unmarried, retired confectioner, was living at 2 Mogridge Villa, Hastings All Saints. With her was her sister Esther Lock (46) of Hastings.
At the time of the 1901 England Census Ann Maria Lock, aged 80, born in Hastings Sussex, single, living on own means, was at 2 Halloway Villas, Hastings All Saints. With her was companion Ann Ellis (52) of Lindfield Sussex, widow.

OCTOGENERIAN'S DEATH.—We regret to record the death, on Sunday, of Miss Ann Maria Lock, at Sunny Hill, Old London-road, at the advanced age of 89 years. The funeral took place on Thursday at the Borough Cemetery. The Rev. G. Brooker officiated. The late Miss Lock was in business in George-street as a confectioner for many years, retiring in 1876. The whole of the funeral arrangements were carried out most satisfactorily by Messrs. J. Vine and Son, of 34a and 94, High-street, Hastings.
