In Mar 1839 Maria Lock was present at the marriage of her brother Charles Lock to Anna Maria Burr in Hastings St. Clement.

At the time of the 1861 England Census Maria Pitt, aged 39, born in Hastings Hussex, married, butler's wife, was living in West Peckham Kent. With her were children (born in West Peckham) John Willm (3) and Mary Maria (1).

In May 1865 Maria Pitt of Framfield, widow, was the sole executrix of her husband's Will.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Maria Pitt, aged 48, born in Hastings Hussex, widow, confectioner, was living at 5 Bank Building, Holy Trinity Sussex. With her were children John W (13) of Ore Sussex, printer's apprentice, and Mary M (11) of West Peckham Kent, scholar.

At the time of the 1881 England Census Maria Pitt, aged 58, born in Hastings Hussex, widow, confectioner, was living at 5 Bank Building, Hastings Holy Trinity Sussex. Present were children John W (23) of Ore, painter or compositor, Mary M (21) of West Peckham Kent, assisting mother.

At the time of the 1891 England Census Maria Pitt, aged 68, born in Hastings Hussex, widow, living on her own means, was staying with her widowed son-in-law Jesse Vine, corn dealer, and his family, at 38 High St., Hastings St. Clement.

At the time of the 1901 England Census Maria Pitt, aged 78, born in Hastings Hussex, widow, living on own means, was with her daughter Mary Maria Blencowe and her family at 28 Lordship Lane, Camberwell London.

DEATH OF MRS. PITT.—The death has occurred in London of Mrs. Maria Pitt, who for many years kept a confectionary shop in Bank-buildings. She was 84 years of age, and her funeral took place at Forest Cemetery on Tuesday. She was a sister of the late Miss Lock, who will be remembered by old townspeople as the proprietress of a pastrycook's business in George-street.
