In 1789 Mary Lock was a beneficiary of the Will of her maternal grandfather John Phillips of Hastings, mariner.
In 1814 Mary the wife of John Gallop was bequeathed £20 in the Will of her paternal grandfather James Lock 'the elder' of Hastings, mariner.
In 1833 Mary the wife of John Gallop of Hastings St. Clement, ship carpenter, was bequeathed £500 in the Will of her uncle John Phillips of Hastings St. Clement, gentleman.
At the time of the 1841 England Census Mary Gallop, aged about 50, and husband John Gallop, aged about 55, shipwright, were living in York Cottages, St. Mary in the Castle, Hastings, Sussex. With them were Caroline Gallop (25), Jno. Gallop junr. (25), carpenter, Geo: Gallop (20), shipwright, Chas. Gallop (15), shipwright, Sarah Gallop (4).
At the time of the 1851 England Census Mary Gallop, aged 65, born in Hastings, and husband John Gallop, aged 66, born in Hastings, shipwright, were living at 4 York Cottages, St. Mary in the Castle Hastings. Daughter Caroline and her husband Henry Belsey were at the same address.
In 1854 Mary Gallop was a beneficiary of her husband's Will.
In 1857 Mary Gallop, widow, was bequeathed £100 from the Will of her late sister Sarah Hoad of Hastings, widow.
At the time of the 1861 England Census Mary Gallop, age 76, born in Hastings Sussex, widow, was with her daughter Caroline Belsey and her family at 1 York Cottages, St. Mary in the Castle, Hastings.
