Abstract of the Will of James Lock the Elder of the Town and Port of Hastings in the County of Sussex, Mariner, written 2 Feb 1808, proved 11 Apr 1814. 5

(Names of family members are underlined.)

Gives and devises to his wife Elizabeth his tenement in All Saints in Hastings with garden, hereditaments and premises, and also a net shop in St. Clement in Hastings, both of which he occupies. After her decease he wills the same to his son James Lock and his heirs.

Directs that after the death of his wife that £80 be paid out of the tenement and premises in All Saints to his four grandchildren, the children of his late son George Lock, namely Elizabeth the wife of William Eaton, Sarah the wife of [blank] Hoad, Mary the wife of John Gallop and James Lock, share and share alike.

Gives and bequeaths all his personal estate, property and effects to his wife Elizabeth for the term of her natural life, and thereafter gives one half of the same to his son James Lock and the other half to his said four grandchildren.

Appoints his wife Elizabeth and his son James Lock co-executors of his last will and testament.
