At the time of the 1851 England Census Jane Belsey, aged 42, born in Hastings Sussex, and husband James Belsey, aged 41, born in Hastings, cordwainer, were living at 22 Russell St., St. Mary in the Castle, Hastings. With them were children (born in Hastings): Jas. Thos. (14), scholar, and Jane Caroline (9), scholar.
In 1854 Jane the wife of James Belsey was a beneficiary of her father's Will, along with her children James Thomas Belsey and Jane Caroline Belsey.
