In Jun 1807 Jas. Lock was present at the marriage of his sister Sarah Lock to Harry Hoad in Hastings St. Clement.

In 1814 James Lock was bequeathed £20 in the Will of his paternal grandfather James Lock 'the elder' of Hastings, mariner.

In 1840 James Lock was a beneficiary of his mother's Will.

At the time of the 1841 England Census Jas. Lock, aged about 52, carpenter, was living in Lock's Cottage, St. Mary in the Castle, Hastings Sussex. With him were daughter Sarah (22), ind[ependent], daughter Lyddy (15), ind[ependent], son Chas. (14), taylor, Alfred (5), grandson Caleb Crouch (7), daughter Ann Eaton (27), ind[ependent].

James Lock of St. Mary in the Castle died aged 53 years (burial record).

"Sacred to the Memory of Mrs. Ann Lock who died February 28th 1840 aged 86 years also James Son of the above who departed this life April the 8th 1843 Aged 53 Years also Ann Charlotte Eaton eldest daughter of the above James Lock who departed this life December 24th 1842 aged 28 years also Charles Lock son of the above James Lock who departed this life August 23rd 1843." 4
