In 1781 Martha Smith was named in the Will of her father Bartholomew Horsell as mother of Francis Smith, whom Bartholomew appointed one of the trustees of his Will.
In 1790 Martha was the sole executrix of her husband's Will, having been bequeathed all her husband's freehold, leasehold and copyhold estates for the term of her natural life.
