Named as a beneficiary in his father's Will (1812).
In the Will of his brother-in-law, William Parham of Purton, yeoman (written 1830), William acknowledges that he owes to Bartholomew £300.
In 1851 Bartholomew Horsell, aged 82, born in Wootton Bassett, Captain (Army, half pay), magistrate of the borough of W. Bassett..., and wife Susannah Horsell, aged 69, born in Cotmarsh were living in Marsh Cottage, Lydiard Tregoze. With them were son Frederick Horsell (29) of Wootton Bassett, farmer's son, granddaughter Mary Ann Yorke (18) of Cheshnut Herts, visitor.

Gives and devises all his messuage, buildings, close of land, hereditaments and premises in Greenhill in the parish of Purton in co. Wilts to his son Bartholomew and his heirs in Trust to pay the rents, issues and proceeds thereof to his wife Susannah for the term of her natural life or widowhood, whereafter he gives and devises the same to his said son Bartholomew for the term of his natural life and thereafter to said son Bartholomew's wife, Elizabeth, formerly Elizabeth Coleman, spinster, for the term of her natural life or widowhood....
