In 1841 Mary Ponting, aged about 35, and husband Chas. Ponting, aged about 36, linen & woollen draper, were living in High Street Wootton Bassett. With them were children: Chas. (12), Mary F. (10), Jno. (6), Thos. C. (5).
Not with her family at the time of the 1851 Census, at which time her husband Charles is recorded as having been married. However, note that when Mary's father's wrote his will in Nov 1849 he named his son-in-law Charles Pearce Ponting but does not name his daughter Mary, though he names his daughter Ann and her husband, suggesting Mary was already deceased. Further note that a Mary Ponting was buried in Malmesbury (Charles's home parish) on 12 Apr 1849 aged 44 years (b.c. 1805).
