  Research Notes:

In 1841 Francis Garlick, aged about 30, not born in county, farmer, and wife Susanna, aged about 25, not born in county, were living in Brokenborough Wiltshire. Francis' brother Giles and mother Martha were living nearby.

In 1851 Francis Garlick, aged 40, born in Hemmington Somerset, farmer of 250 acres employing 7 men & 2 boys, and wife Susanna, aged 40, born in Henley Gloucestershire, were living on Marsh Farm, Brokenborough Wiltshire. With them were children (born in Brokenborough): Francis (7), Daniel (5), Henry (2), and Giles (5 months). Staying was nephew William Garlick (17) of Brokenborough.

In 1861 Francis Garlick, aged 50, born in A------ Somersetshire, farmer of 275 acres employing 7 labourers & 1 boy, and wife Susanna, aged 49, born in Tetbury Gloucestershire, were living on Marsh Farm, Brokenborough Wiltshire. With them were children (born in Brokenborough): Daniel (15), scholar, Henry (13), scholar, Giles (10), scholar, Charles (7), scholar, and Edward (5), scholar. Brother Giles Garlick was on the adjoining property Gilboa Farm.

In 1871 Francis Garlick, aged 60, born in Somersetshire, farmer of 285 acres employing 7 men & 2 boys, and wife Susan, aged 59, born in Gloucestershire, were living on Marsh Farm, Brokenborough Wiltshire. With them were children (born in Brokenborough): Giles (19), Charles (16), and Edward (14). Son Daniel was on Gelbo Farm nextdoor.

In 1881 Francis Garlick, aged 70, born in Somersetshire, widower, farmer of 500 [acres] employing 7 men & 2 boys, was living in Farm House, Boxwell-cum-Leighterton, Gloucestershire. Present were son Charles (27) of Brokenborough Wilts, and nephew William (20) of Brokenborough.

In 1891 Francis S Garlick, aged 83, born in Brokenborough Wilts [sic], widower, farmer, was living in Brokenborough Farm, Brokenborough. With him were son Charles Garlick (36) of Brokenborough, single, farmer, and grandson Reginald Garlick (15) of Newnton Wilts, scholar.
