In 1871 Henry Garlick, aged 24, born in Brokenbro Wilts, unmarried, farmer [of] 270 acres [employing] 4 men, 1 boy, was on Slades Farm, Long Newnton Wilts.

* Henry's age as given here agrees with the GROE death index; however, he was closer to 31 when he died. The memorial inscriptions gives his age as 30.

The Will with a Codicil of Henry Garlick late of the Slades Farm in the parish of Long Newnton in the county of Wilts, farmer, who died 30 March 1879 at the Slades Farm, was proved 1 May at Salisbury by Edward Garlick of Brokenborough in the said county, the brother, and James Till Barton of Tetbury in the county of Gloucester, farmers, the executors. ⁴
