At the time of the 1911 England Census Henry Newick, age 53, born in Stonegate, waggoner on farm, was living at Darby's Cottage, Wadhurst. With him were wife of 28 years Emily, age 50, born in Mayfield, children: Albert Henry (22), labourer on farm, James Duplock (21), waggoner on farm, Arthur Earnest (20), labourer on farm, Frank (18), domestic gardener, Sylven Thomas (16), labourer on farm, Emily (14), at school, Edward Kingsley (8).

FUNERAL OF MR. H. NEWICK
An old employee was lost to Sir George Courthope's estate at Whiligh by the death on Friday of Mr. Henry Newick. Mr Newick, who was 81, collapsed in the road near his home, The Angle, Sparrows Green, and died shortly afterwards. A native of Stonegate, he lived at Mayfield until the 1890's, when he went to Wadhurst. Until his death he was actively employed as farm labourer on the Whiligh estate. Mr. and Mrs. Newick had been married 57 years.
The funeral at the Parish Church on Tuesday was conducted by the Rev. E. Mannering (vicar). The mourners were Mr. William Newick and Mr. J. Newick (sons), Mrs. N. Newick (daughter-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. E. Newick, and Mr. and Mrs. S. Newick (sons and daughters-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. B. Nye, and Mr. and Mrs. H. Tompsett (sons-in-law and daughters), Mrs. Lord (daughter), Mrs. F. Newick and Mrs. E. K. Newick (daughters-in-law), Mr. E. Newick, Mr. Frank Newick, the Misses Alice and Grace Newick, and Mr. Jack Newick (grandchildren), Mr. and Mrs. H. Duplock (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. Arthur Woolgar, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Newick (nephews and niece). Mr. Harry Newick (eldest son) was unable to be present owing to illness....
