At the time of the 1911 England Census Emily Newick, age 14, born in Mayfield Sussex, at school, was living with her parents in Darby's Cottage, Wadhurst.
In the 1939 Register Emily Nye (b. 10 Jan 1897), domestic duties, and husband Herbert Nye (b. 3 May 1896), builder's labourer, were living at 1 Saint Georges Cottage, Durgates, Sussex. At the same address was [son] Charles Nye (b. 1 Nov 1922), motor mechanic's apprentice.

OBITUARY
Mrs. E. Nye
(Wadhurst)
Mrs Emily Nye, of 1 St. George's Cottages, Brinkers Lane, Wadhurst, died on Wednesday of last week at the Kent and Sussex Hospital, Tunbridge Wells. She was 77.
A life-long resident of Wadhurst, Mrs Nye celebrated her golden wedding three years ago. She leaves a widower, a son and two daughters.
The funeral took place at Wadhurst Parish Church yesterday (Thursday), the service being conducted by the Rev. T. D. M. Raven.
