Abstract of the Will of John Humphreys of Dolgelley in the County of Merioneth, Esquire, written 25 Oct 1754, proved 21 Apr 1755. 4
Refers to an Indenture Tripartite dated 7 Sep 3 Geo. I [1716] between his late father John Humphreys the Elder of Caernnwch in the county of Merioneth gentleman and Grace his wife, and John Humphreys the Younger their son of the first part, his late wife Margaret Vaughan of Castellmoch in the county of Montgomery spinster of the second part, and John Humphreys of Llanfilling in the county of Montgomery gentleman, Enion Humphreys Rector of Llanddwywey in the county of Merioneth, Thomas Jones of Montgomery esquire and Isaac Clapton of Llande----- in Montgomery esquire (all deceased) of the third part, wherein a power is reserved to himself John Humphreys the Younger to charge all his hereditaments and premisses in the parishes of Dolgelley, Llanfachreth and Llanvair after the death of John Humphreys the Elder & Grace his wife with any sum of money not exceeding £700, £200 of which has already been directed, and the sum of £450 being for his younger child or children...
Orders & directs £50 be paid to his wife and executrix hereinafter named.
Orders & directs £200 be paid to his daughter Mary Humphreys.
Orders & directs £100 be paid to his nephew John Poole of Dolgelley, apothecary, with the purpose that he pay the annual interest to his [John Humphrey's] daughter Elizabeth for the term of her natural life; and after her decease to his grandson Vaughan Humphreys, son of the said Elizabeth, until he attains the age of twenty-one years or is married. And once Vaughan Humphreys either attains the age of twenty-one years or is married, he directs that the said John Poole pays him £100....
Constitutes and appoints Anne his wife sole executrix and residuary legatee of his last will and testament....
