In 1612 William Painter was bequeathed £10 in his father's Will.

In Mar 1613/4 William Paynter of Hailsham was appointed as one of the overseers of the Will of his friend Edmund Waterhouse of Hailsham.

In Jul 1627 William Painter of Arlington, yeoman, was a surety for a marriage licence between his daughter Joane Painter and Richard Langford of Northiham.

In Jan 1629 William Paynter and his brother Alexander were witnesses to the nuncupative Will of Thankful Foote of Arlington, singleman.

In 1635 William Paynter was bequeathed an annuity of 1 mark or 13 shillings 4 pence in the Will of his sister Joane Young of Wilmington, widow.

In 1635 William Paynter was made a trustee of the Will of his son-in-law Richard Langford of Bexhill.

Abstract of the Will of William Painter of Arlington, yeoman, written 30 Mar 1646, proved 19 Dec 1649. 3

Wills and devises that his daughter Agnis Plesden, widow of the parish of Arlington, have the rents, profits, issues and benefits of his lands and tenements in the parish of Healston in co. Sussex, during the term of her natural life.

He wills that the money arising from the sale of his abovesaid lands shall be paid to the children of his two daughters; viz. to Ursilie Sherwood, Alexander Sherwood, Elizabeth the wife of James Arnoll, Leonard Millam, Margaret Millam, children of his daughter Agnis; and Edward Lanford, Robert Lanford and Thomas Lanford, children of his daughter Joane Lanford, widow, late deceased.

Wills to Ursilla Sharwood his bed with the stedle, a blanket, a coverlet, and a joined chest.

Wills to Elizabeth Arnold his bedstedle at Whitdike and a flock bed.

Gives to his cousin Robert Lanford his bible.

The residue of his goods he gives to his daughter Agnis who he makes sole executor of his last will and testament.
