In 1612 Joane Painter one of the daughters of William Painter was bequeathed a lamb in the Will of her paternal grandfather Robert Painter of Hailsham.
In 1635 Joane was bequeathed £20 in her husband's Will.
Writing his Will in Mar 1646 William Painter of Arlington named his daughter "Joane Lanford, widow, late deceased", mother of Edward Lanford, Robert Lanford and Thomas Lanford.
