In 1612 Agnes Painter one of the daughters of William Painter was bequeathed a lamb in the Will of her paternal grandfather Robert Painter of Hailsham.
Writing his Will in Mar 1646 William Painter of Arlington bequeathed to his daughter Agnes Plesden, widow, the rents, profits, issues and benefits of his lands and tenements in the parish of Healston in co. Sussex, during the term of her natural life. He further wills that the money arising from the sale of the above lands should be paid to his grandchildren, including the children of his daughter Agnes, namely, Ursilie Sherwood, Alexander Sherwood, Elizabeth the wife of James Arnoll, Leonard Millam and [his wife] Margaret Millam.
Sole executrix and residuary legatee of her father's Will.
