At the time of the 1871 England Census Stephen Neve, aged 43, born in Bexhill Sussex, mill wright employing 1 man, and wife Jane Neve, aged 45, born in Warbleton Sussex, tradesman's wife, were living in Rushlake Green, Warbleton. With them were children (born in Warbleton) Mary Jane (14), Henry (12), scholar, James Herbert (3), and Ebenezer (1 mo).
At the time of the 1881 England Census Stephen Neve, aged 54, born in Bexhill Sussex, master millwright emp 2 men, and wife Jane Neve, aged 55, born in Warbleton Sussex, were living in Rehoboth Cottage, Warbleton. Present were children (born in Warbleton) Mary J (24), dressmaker, Henry (22), millwright, Frederick (20), millwright, Harriett E (18), unemployed, James H (14), scholar, and Ebenezer (10), scholar.
At the time of the 1891 England Census Stephen Neve, aged 64, born in Bexhill Sussex, retired millwright, and wife Jane Neve, aged 65, born in Warbleton Sussex, were living in Heathfield Sussex. With them was grandson Frank Billinness (8) of Warbleton.

HEATHFIELD.
DEATH AND FUNERAL OF MR. STEPHEN NEVE.—We regret to announce the death of Mr. S. Neve, at his residence, Mutton Hall Cottage. The deceased, who was 70 years of age, for many years carried on business as engineer and millwright at Warbleton. The funeral took place at the Ebenezer Baptist Chapel, of which he was a member, on Saturday, when in addition to the widow and other relatives a large number of friends assembled as a last mark of respect.
