At the time of the 1891 England Census Mary J Billenness, aged 34, born in Warbleton Sussex, widow, needlewoman, was living at 26 Commercial Rd., Eastbourne Sussex. With her were son Ebenezer T Billenness (4) and brother James H Neve (23) of Warbleton, painter.
At the time of the 1901 England Census Mary J Baker, aged 44, born in Warbleton Sussex, and [2nd] husband Joseph E Baker, aged 37, born in Hailsham, twine maker, were living at 52 South Rd., Hailsham St. Mary, Sussex. With them were children Sidney Billenness (16) of Eastbourne, Ebenezer T Billenness (14) of Eastbourne, Grace H Billenness (10) of Eastbourne, and (born in Hailsham): Charles D Baker (10), Florrie Baker (6), Annie C Baker (4), Ethel D Baker (1 mo), and Mary's mother Jane Neve (75) of Warbleton, widow.
At the time of the 1911 England Census Mary Jane Baker, aged 54, born in Warbleton Sussex (mother of 1 child*), and husband of 12 years Joseph Elijah Baker, aged 46, born in Hailsham, twine maker, were living at 52 South Rd., Hailsham Sussex. With them were Chas. David Baker (20), twine maker, Annie Caroline Baker (14), Ethel Doris Baker (10) and Ebenezer Thos. Billenness (24) of Eastbourne, clerk, twine & brush making.

HAILSHAM BEREAVEMENT.
THE LATE MRS. J. E. BAKER.
A member of a well-known Hailsham family, Mrs. Mary Jane Baker, wife of Mr. Joseph Elijah Baker, of 110, South-road, passed away on Friday. Mrs. Baker, who was 71 years of age, had been ill for about 15 weeks. Two sons and two daughters are also bereaved. Born at Warbleton, Mrs. Baker came to Hailsham from Eastbourne about thirty years ago. A large number of friends attended the Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. The service was conducted by Mr. E. M. G. Mockford (Hailsham Baptist pastor), who gave a sympathetic address.
The mourners were Mr. J. E. Baker (widower), Mr. F. Billenness of Eastbourne and Mr. S. Billenness of Tunbridge Wells (sons), Miss E. Baker and Mrs. F. Baker (daughters), Mr. C. Baker (step-son), Mrs. Barber (step-daughter), Mr. and Mrs. H. Neve, of Heathfield, and Mr. and Mrs. F. Neve, of Heathfield (brothers and sisters-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. E. Mockford, of Heathfield (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. F. Baker (son-in-law), Mrs. F. Billenness, of Eastbourne, and Mrs. E. Billeness (daughters-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. A. Cornford, of Hellingly, Mr. and Mrs. F. Billenness, of East Hoathly, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Fox (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law), Mr. J. Billenness, of Eastbourne (brother-in-law), Mr. W.
