In 1871 Thomas Taylor, aged 40, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, plasterer employing 1 man & 1 boy, and wife Julia, aged 31, born in Wootton Bassett, were living in High Street, Wootton Bassett. With them were children (born in Wootton Bassett) Sarah Ann (9), scholar, Blanch (6), scholar, Maude (5), scholar, and Herbert (2).
In 1881 Thomas Taylor, aged 54, born in Wootton Bassett, plasterer, and wife Julia, aged 41, born in Wootton Bassett, were living in High Street S E Side Wootton Bassett. Present were children (born in Wootton Bassett): Blanche (16), Maud (15), pupil teacher, Herbert (12), scholar, Clarence (8), scholar, William (5), scholar, Cornelius (2).

With them were children (born in Wootton Bassett) Maud Taylor (25), assistant school mistress, Clarence Taylor (18), pupil teacher, William Taylor (15), outfitter's apprentice, and Nelson* Taylor (10), scholar.

AN OLD ODDFELLOW.—Yesterday (Thursday) afternoon Mr. Thomas Taylor was laid to rest in the cemetery. He had been a member of the "Rose of Independence" Lodge of Oddfellows for nearly 50 years, and had held the various offices connected therewith, and was much respected. The Oddfellows' funeral address was read by Bro. J. G. Smith, P.D.N.G. Up till recent years Mr. Taylor was an active townsman, generally assisting in everything of benefit to the community at large. He was a sergeant in the Volunteer Corps. When the fire brigade was first formed, he was one of its members. Up till a few years ago he was a member of the church choir. He passed away on Sunday last at the advanced age of 73 years.
