In 1796 William Taylor of Wotton Bassett, slatter & plaisterer, was co-executor the Will of his father-in-law Edward Phelps of Purton.

Abstract of the Will of William Taylor of Wootton Bassett in the County of Wiltshire, Tyler & Plasterer, written 22 Sep 1804, proved 24 Oct 1805. 5

Gives and bequeaths the house he lives in with its belongings to his eldest son and heir William Taylor for natural life, except two rooms which are for the use of his daughter Lucy Taylor while she remains unmarried, so long as she doesn't let them.

Gives and bequeaths two houses and their belongings situated in Butty in Wootton Bassett to his son George Taylor, with the exception that William's sister Ann can live in the smallest of them during her life.

Gives and bequeaths £60 to his son Nevil Taylor.

Gives and bequeaths to his three youngest children Amelia Taylor, Ann Taylor and Jesper Taylor three houses in in Widdom in the parish of Purton...

Gives and bequeaths £140 to his daughters Edith: Lucy: Esther: Elizabeth: Mary: and Cecil Taylor and also Edward Miller son of his last wife by a former husband, to be equally shared among them.

Directs that his daughter Lucy Taylor will as at present continue to act as housekeeper and guardian of his family.

Nominates and appoints his daughter Lucy as sole executrix of his last will and testament and William Wiltshire senr. as Trustee until his eldest son William Taylor attains the age of twenty-one years.
