On 3 Nov 1803 eldest son Thomas Chesterman, age 9, along with another boy, Abraham Woodward, were killed when a tree fell on them.

Bequeaths to his wife his dwelling house and garden situated in Ashton Keynes in co. Wilts during her natural life, appointing her sole executrix of his last will and testament.
Nominates and appoints his brother Thomas Chesterman of Tytherton in the Parish of Brimhill in co. Wilts, yeoman, and his friend William Tuck of Broad Hinton in co. Wilts, yeoman, Trustees for his wife and family, bequeathing them £5 each for their trouble.
All the rest of his monies, goods and chattels, arrears of rent and all his valuables of whateverkindsoever, he bequeaths his wife and her son John Chesterman Bridges, her daughter Mary Chesterman, her daughter Edith Chesterman, her son Robert Chesterman, her son Thomas Chesterman, and her son Michael Chesterman, to be equally divided among them.
