At the time of the 1861 England Census Mercy Hughes, aged 30, born in Tunbridge Wells Kent, and husband Richard Hughes, aged 34, born in Llandilo Carmarthen, druggist & grocer, were living at 34 Great Dark Gate Street, Aberystwyth. With them was Richard's mother Ann Samuel (59) of Carmarthen, married, bondholder.
In Dec 1866 Mercy Ann Hughes was present at the marriage of her sister Eliza Harriet Page to Charles Kelsey Stevens in Aberystwyth.
