At the time of the 1891 England Census John Avis, age 70, born in Hunton Kent, widower, farm labourer, was in Pleasant Cottages, 141 London Rd., Tunbridge Kent. With him were daughter Ellen L Killick (45) of Southboro, married, daughter Emma M Avis (29) of Southboro, single, laundress, and grandson Alfred T Avis (4) of Southboro.
