At the time of the 1841 England Census Charlotte Avis, aged about 45, born in the county, and husband Richard Avis, aged about 55, not born in the county ag lab, were living in Ashurst Bank, Ashurst Kent. With them were son James (13), ag lab, born in the county, as well Elizabeth Smith (8), Charlotte Smith (6) and James Smith (4), the latter three not born in the county.
Charlotte may have remarried between 1845 and 1851 as no death entry or burial record has been found so far.
