Research Notes:
Richard baseborn son of Jno. Avis and Su: Walter (baptismal record)
---------------------------
By 1791 Richard and Hannah were sojourning in Cowden Kent, a little over 6 miles NW of Withyham Sussex where Richard came from. Their eldest son Richard was christened in Cowden, aged 3 years, and it is likely he was born in Withyham. Note that in the 1841 England Census Richard Avis Jr. was recorded as not born in the county of Kent, and his younger siblings Susannah and James gave their birthplaces as Withyham in the Censuses. By 1800 Richard and Hannah were in Ashurst Kent, which is just over 4½ miles east of Cowden, and just under 5 miles north of Withyham.

Richard Avis from Union Workhouse Worth died aged 77 years (burial record).
