In 1871 Mary J. Hichens, aged 39, born in Sancreed, and husband James J. Hichens, aged 40, born in Madron, farmer of 60 acres, were living in Tregear, Crowan. With them were children (born in Crowan) Harry (14), scholar, Emily (12), scholar, Ada (10), scholar, John (6), scholar, James J. (3), Christopher W. (2), Mary E. (6 months).
In 1881 Mary J. Hichens, aged 49, born in Sancreed, and husband James J. Hichens, aged 50, born in Madron, farmer of 55 acres, were living in Farm House, Tregear, Crowan. Present were children (born in Crowan) Henry (24), Emilie L. (24), Ada E. (20), John J. (16), James T. (13), Christopher W. (12).
In 1891 Mary J. B. Hichens, aged 59, born in Sancreed, and husband James J. Hichens, aged 60, born in Madron, farmer, were living at Trenuggo House, Sancreed. With them were children (born in Crowan) Emily L. (32), Ada E. (30), John J. (26), Thomas J. (23), Christopher W. (22), Mary E. (20), Evelyn C. (18).
In 1901 Mary J. B. Hichens, aged 69, born in Sancreed, and husband James J. Hichens, aged 70, born in Madron, farmer, were living in Trenuggo, Sancreed. With them were children (born in Crowan) Emily L. (39), Ada E. (37), John J. (36), manager of dairy factory, Christopher W. (30), farmer's son, Ethel (28), Evelyn (25).
In 1911 Mary Jane Bowden Hichens, aged 79, born in Sancreed (mother of 8 children), and husband of 56 years James James Hichens, aged 80, born in Madron, farmer, were living in Trenuggo, Sancreed. With them were children (born in Crowan, single) Ada Elizabeth (50), dairy work & poultry keeper, Christopher Wm. (42), working on farm, Mary Ethel (40), dairy work & poultry keeper, and Evelyn Cordelia (38), dairy work & poultry keeper.
In 1921 Mrs. Mary Hichens, aged 90 years 2 months, born in Sancreed, widowed, was with her son Christopher Hichens and other children in Trenuggo, Sancreed.
