In 1851 John Leggo, aged 56, born in Paul Cornwall, grocer, and wife Jane Leggo, aged 45, born in Phillack Cornwall, were living in Newbridge, Sancreed, Cornwall. With them were children (born in Sancreed) Emily (21), grocer's daughter, Mary J. (19), grocer's daughter, Ellen S. (8), grocer's daughter, mother-in-law Mary Leggo (88) of Sancreed, annuitant.
In 1861 John Leggo, aged 67, born in Paul, retired grocer, and wife Jane Leggo, aged 55, born in Phillack, were with their son William at 10 Fore St., Redruth, Cornwall.

The Will of John Leggo, late of the Parish of Sancreed in the County of Cornwall, shopkeeper, deceased, who died 11 October 1869 at Sancreed aforesaid, was proved on 6 December 1869 at Bodmin by oath of Jane Leggo of Sancreed aforesaid, widow, the relict, one of the executors.
