In 1911 Richard Lutey, aged 77, born in Gulval Cornwall, widower, retired farmer, was living in Carfury, New Mill. With him were son Edward Lutey (30) of Gulval, married 2 years, farmer, daughter-in-law Eliza Lutey (25) of Gulval, grandson Harold Lutey (1) of Gulval.

THE LATE MR. RD. LUKEY, OF CARFURY.
INTERMENT AT GULVAL.
The death took place at Carfury on Saturday of Mr. Richard Lutey, at the age of 80. Mr. Lutey was a well-known agriculturist, and had taken a prominent part in the public life of the parish. For many years he was a member of Penzance Board of Guardians and Rural District Council, a member of the old Highway Board and School Board at Gulval, member of Gulval Parish Council from its formation, one of the managers of the school, and a member of the Pendrea and Tripconey Charity Committee. A Nonconformist, practically all his life he was associated with the Bible Christian (now the U.M.C.) society, and filled all the offices open to a layman in connection therewith. He was superintendent of the Sunday School at Carfury for 30 years, chapel and circuit steward and class leader for 50 years.
The interment took place at Gulval churchyard on Tuesday, and the esteem in which deceased was held found expression in the large attendance....

The coffin was of polished pitchpine, with oak mouldings and solid brass furniture, the breastplate being engraved: "Richard Lutey, died February 14, 1914, aged 80 years." ....
