Richard Berryman Lutey died aged 49 years. 3
---------------------------
The sudden death of Mr. Richard Berriman Lutey, of Penwarne Farm, Mevagissey, during Friday night came as a great shock to all the inhabitants of the town by whom he had been very much liked and respected during his six years' residence in the neighbourhood.
Mr. Lutey attended St. Austell market on Friday and returned home apparently in his usual health. After eating a hearty supper he retired at 10.30. About 12.45 he was very sick and complained of severe pains in his stomach, and in little over half an hour he expired, death being due to heart failure. The Coroner did not think an inquest necessary.
Mr. Lutey was 49 years of age, and leaves a widow, three sons and a daughter for whom, in their sudden bereavement, great sympathy is expressed. He was one of the most energetic workers in the River Street United Methodist Church. He was also a member for Mevagissey of the St. Austell Board of Guardians and Rural District Council, and attended the meetings of these bodies last Friday week....
