At the time of the 1841 Wales Census Thomas Richards, aged 49, born in Glamorgan Wales, mason, and wife Catherine, aged 49, born in Glamorgan, were living in Penmark East, Glamorgan. With them were sons Thomas (26), mason, and William (23), mason.

At the time of the 1851 Wales Census Thomas Richards, aged 59, born in Penmark Glamorgan, schoolmaster, and wife C., aged 60, born in Penmark, schoolmistress, were living at Porthkerry School, Porthkerry, Glamorgan. With them were granddaughter Jane Evans (8) of Porthkerry, visitor William Benjamin* (21) of Penmark, smith, lodger Eliza John (21) of Merthyr dovan, scholar.

Thomas married Catherine Norman, daughter of John Norman of Penmark and Catherine Rees, on 17 Aug 1812 in Penmark, Glamorgan, Wales 1. (Catherine Norman was born in 1791 in Penmark, Glamorgan, Wales, died on 16 Aug 1878 in Porthkerry, Glamorgan, Wales and was buried on 20 Aug 1878 in Penmark, Glamorgan, Wales 1.

  Marriage Notes:

Banns of marriage between Thomas Richard and Catherine Norman were published on 26 July and the 2nd and 9th of August 1812, by J. S. Casbird, Vicar, the said Thomas Richard of this parish, batchelor, and Catherine Norman of this parish, spinster.
