In Jan 1832 Caroline Simmons and her husband Thomas Simmons were present at the marriage of Caroline's brother Joseph Akehurst Carey to Sarah Peckham in South Malling Sussex.

In Nov 1832 Caroline Simmons was present at the marriage of her brother John Carey to Elizabeth Blaber in South Malling Sussex.

At the time of the 1841 England Census Caroline Simmons, aged about 35, and husband Thomas Simmons, aged about 35, carrier, were living in Church Street, St. John under the Castle, Lewes. With them were children: Elizabeth (14), Jane (11), William (8), Mary (6), and Thomas (4).

At the time of the 1851 England Census Caroline Simmons, age 45, born in Lewes [sic], and husband James [sic] Simmons, age 44, born in Lewes Sussex, farmer of 52 acres [employing] 2 labourers, were living in Lindfield Sussex. Present were children: Mary (16) of Lewes, Thomas (13) of Lewes, Henry (9) of Lewes, scholar, Edward (7) of Chailey, Harriett (3) of Chailey, Caroline (5 m) of Lindfield.

At the time of the 1861 England Census Caroline Simmons, age 55, born in Alciston Sussex, and husband Thomas Simmons, age 54, born in Lewes Sussex, farmer of 22 acres, were living in Wares, Chailey Sussex. With them were children: William (28) of Lewes, carter (ag lab), Henry (19) of Lewes, ag lab, Edward 1(16) of Chailey, ag lab, Harriet (13) of Chailey, scholar, and Caroline (10) of Lindfield, scholar.

In Jan 1865 Caroline wife of Thomas Simmons was named as a beneficiary in her mother's Will.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Caroline Simmons, age 66, born in Alciston Sussex, and husband Thomas Simmons, age 65, born in Lewes, farmer of 70 acres employing 1 man and 1 boy, were living in North Lemmon?, Chailey Sussex. With them were children: Edward (27) of Chaily, Harriett (23) of Chaily, granddaughter Mary Ann Simmons (6) of Fletching.

At the time of the 1881 England Census Caroline Simmons, age 75, born in Alciston Sussex, and husband Thomas Simmons, age 74, born in St. Ann's Lewes, small farmer employing 1 man and 1 boy, were living in Farm House, Chailey Sussex. With them were son Edward (37) of Chailey, ag: labourer, daughter Harriet Funnell (33) of Chailey, married, grandchildren Mary Ann Simmons (16) of Fletching, Thomas Simmons (12) of Ticehurst, and Edward A Funnell (10 months) of Bolney, sons-in-law George Allen (59) of St. John's Lewes, blacksmith, and Alfred Funnell (31) of Newick, grocer's assistant.

In 1882 Caroline Simmons of Chailey, widow, was the sole executrix of her late husband's Will.

At the time of the 1891 England Census Caroline Simmons, age 86, born in Alciston Sussex, widow, was living in Chailey Sussex. With her were son Edward (47) of Chailey, single, works on farm, granddaughter Mary A Simmons (26) of Fletching, household duties.
