John EVANS of Cefn Cymera

  • Christened: 8 Oct 1779, Llanbedr, Merioneth, Wales 1
  • Married (1): 12 Nov 1802, Llanfair-juxta-Harlech, Merioneth, Wales 2
  • Died: Before 15 Dec 1829?

Also known as John Evans WYNNE.

  Research Notes:

John Evans son of Evan Wynne Gent and Jane his wife (baptismal record)

Second son, named as a beneficiary in the Will of his granduncle Griffith Evans of Cwmyrafon Esq. (written 1789)

John had an illegitimate daughter Margaret born in 1797. 3

John is not named in his father's Will (written 1829), so it is likely he died within his lifetime. There is no burial in the Llanbedr Parish Register and none in the Parish Register for Llanfair-juxta-Harlech between 1813 and 1829. John's father Evan made bequests to his grandchildren Griffith Evans, Jane Evans and Ellinor Barrow, who appear to have been John's children, as they were not the children of any of Evan's other sons or daughters. It is also noteworthy that Griffith Evans (Wynne), who is shown in the majority of the Censuses as having been born in Llanfair, was living and farming in Cwmyrafon with his family at the time of the 1841 Census, land which was bequeathed to John Evans (Wynne) in the Will of Griffith Evans of Cwmyrafon (above).

  Marriage Information:

John married Lowry WILLIAMS, daughter of William DAVID of Rhyd y reirin and Jane EVANS, on 12 Nov 1802 in Llanfair-juxta-Harlech, Merioneth, Wales. (Lowry WILLIAMS was born about 1780 in Llanfair-juxta-Harlech, Merioneth, Wales and died after 1841.)

  Marriage Notes:
