In 1861 Giles Garlick, aged 48, born in Askeg? Somersetshire, unmarried, farmer of 274 acres employing 6 men & 3 boys, was on Gilboa Farm, Brokenborough Wilts. Giles' brother Francis Garlick and his family were on the adjoining property Marsh Farm.

The Will of Giles Garlick of Brokenborough in the County of Wilts, gentleman, deceased, who died 2 June 1869 at Brokenborough aforesaid, was proved 4 August at Salisbury by the oaths of Francis James Garlick of Chavenage in the County of Gloucester, farmer, the nephew, and Richard Bennett of Maidford near Malmesbury in the County of Wilts aforesaid, gentleman, the executors. 2
