In 1881 Sarah Burton, aged 11, born in Llancarvan Glamorgan, scholar, was with her parents in Crossways, Llancarvan Glamorgan.

In 1891 Sarah Burton, aged 23, born in Bonvilstone* Glamorgan, single, was working as a general domestic servant in New Mill, Llantrisant Glamorgan.

* Born in Llancarfan, the family moved to Bonvilstone during the 1880s.

In 1901 Sarah Carter, aged 32, born in Pendoylan Glamorgan, and husband James E. Carter, aged 28, born in Llantrisant Glamorgan, limestone quarryman, were living Mwyndy, Llantrisant. With them was James's brother George Carter (27) of Llantrisant, limestone quarryman.
