In 1798 William Morris was named as a beneficiary in his father's Will.

At the time of the 1851 England Census William Morris, age 61, born in Eastbourne, widower, watch maker, was living in South Street, Eastbourne. With him were daughter Maria Morris (33) of Eastbourne, unmarried, school mistress, and grandson William Caffyn (8) of Worthing, scholar.

Abstract of the Will of William Morris senior of South Street Eastbourne in the County of Sussex, Watchmaker & Jeweller, written 8 May 1853, proved 25 Apr 1854. 3

Appoints his friends George Ashby of the parish of East Dean, farmer, and Samuel Rason of Eastbourne, innkeeper, executors of his will, devising to them in Trust his dwelling house, blacksmith's shop, garden and courtyard in Eastbourne, as well as his two dwelling houses—one in Hill Street in Hastings St. Clement and the other in Court House Street in Hastings All Saints—to sell at a public auction or by private contract, and to distribute the proceeds (after payment of his debts) equally between his six children.
