At the time of the 1871 England Census Mary Ann Newick, age 18, born in Wadhurst Sussex, domestic servant (unemployed), was with her brother Thomas Newick and his family in Little Barden, Etchingham, Sussex.

In Aug 1877 Mary Ann Smith was present at the marriage of her brother William Newick to Harriet Sands in Etchingham Sussex.
