At the time of the 1911 England Census Alice Maud Elizabeth Elgar, age 26, born in Bodiam Sussex, married for 4 years and mother of 2 children (1 deceased), and her son William Alfred Albert Elgar (1) of Camberwell, were visiting [Alice's sister] Mary Louisa Muggridge and her husband James Richard Muggridge in Hollow Walls Staplecross Sussex. At this time Alice's husband, Albert Edward Elgar, age 28, born in Newington London, theatrical attendant, was with his parents at 26 Peckham Grove, Camberwell.

In Apr 1928 Alice Maud Elizabeth Elgar, widow, was granted Administration of her late husband's personal effects.

In the 1939 Register Alice M Elgar (b. 22 Nov 1885*), widowed, cook, was living at 99 Crofton Road, Crofton, Kent. At the same address were [children, single]: Ellen D Elgar (b. 16 Aug 1912), lampshade maker, and Sidney A Elgar (b. 25 Mar 1920), office clerk.
