In Feb 1901 James George Smith was present at the marriage of his sister Mary Louisa Smith to James Richard Muggridge in Ewhurst Sussex.

At the time of the 1911 England Census James George Smith, age 31, born in Bodiam Sussex, farm labourer, and wife of 8 years Clara, age 36, born in Westfield Sussex (mother of 2 children), were living in Dog Lane, Ewhurst Sussex. With them were daughters Maud (7) of Sedlescombe Sussex, and Ethel (5) of Sheerness Kent.

In the 1939 Register James G Smith (b. 25 Jan 1880), wood cutter, and [2nd] wife Jane E Smith (b. 16 Sep 1885), unpaid domestic duties, were living at 20 Parkfield Road, Hastings, Sussex.

Mr. James Smith

The funeral of Mr. James George Smith, aged 60, of 20, Parkfield-road, Holliington, took place on Friday last week at Hollington Church-in-the-Wood, the Rev. A. B. Taylor, rector, officiating.

The mourners were:—Mrs. Smith (widow), Mrs. Lavender and Miss T. Smith (daughters), Mrs. N. Hughes (sister-in-law), Mrs. Lipscombe (daughter-in-law), Miss M. Smith and Mrs. Wilson (daughters), Mr. and Mrs. Pope (son-in-law and daughter).
