Writing his Will in May 1835 John Crowhurst of Bexhill, yeoman, named his daughter Sarah Crowhurst as a beneficiary.
At the time of the 1851 England Census Sarah Shoosmith, age 47, born in Bexhill Sussex, and husband John Shoosmith, age 47, born in Laughton Sussex, farmer of 550 acres employing 23 hands, were living in Upper Berwick Farm, Berwick Sussex.
On 6 Sep 1854 Sarah's daughter and namesake, Sarah Shoosmith, was buried in Berwick, aged 13 years.
