Abstract of the Will of John Smith of Bexhill in the County of Sussex, Yeoman, written 23 Mar 1802, proved 11 Sep 1802. 2

Gives, devises and bequeaths to his friends Stephen Brook of Bexhill, gentleman, and Thomas Lansdell of the same place, gentleman, all his freehold, copyhold and personal estate and property, to hold on Trust, directing them to sell the said real estate and what part of his personal estate is saleable, and to invest the residue of such sales in securities at interest, with one half of the principal money being paid to his mother Mercy now the wife of James Cruttenden of Bexhill, labourer, for the term of her natural life, and the other to be paid to his sisters Ann the wife of William Relf of Hastings, miller, and Sarah Smith of Bexhill, spinster, during the term of their natural lives.
Following the death of either of his two sisters he directs that their respective share or shares be divided equally between their children, including Mary Smith, otherwise Stunt, a natural daughter of his said sister Sarah Smith.
Appoints the said Stephen Brook and Thomas Lansdell co-executors of his last will and testament, giving them £10 as a small acknowledgement for their trouble.
