DEATH OF MR. ODY WENHAM.—It is with sincere regret that we record the death of Mr. Ody Wenham, which took place at his residence, 134, Seaside-road, on Sunday evening, after a long and painful illness. Deceased, who was 73 years of age, was a native of Hailsham, and came to this town about 35 years since. His father was an auctioneer and was widely known. Mr. Ody Wenham was for many years the town crier and as such he became well known, and soon won a reputation for the clear manner in which he gave his notices to the public. About 28 years ago he entered into business as an upholsterer and remained in that trade for about twenty years, when he retired into private life. He leaves a widow, one son (Councillor Wenham) and two daughters to mourn their loss. The funeral took place at the Old Town Cemetery yesterday afternoon, when several friends attended to show their sympathy with the bereaved. The burial service was conducted by the Rev. A. J. Baxter, the deceased having been a member of his congregation. The funeral arrangement were excellently carried out by Messrs. Haine & Son.
