At the time of the 1871 England Census Sydney H. Adams, age 15, born in Brighton, labourer, was with his parents at 3 Islingword Place Brighton.
At the time of the 1881 England Census, albeit recorded as "J Adams", age 25, born in Brighton, bricklayer, and wife Elizabeth, age 26, born in Brighton, were living at 15 Arnold St., Brighton. With them was daughter Louisa R. (1) of Brighton.
At the time of the 1891 England Census Herbert Adams, age 36, born in Brighton Sussex, bricklayer, and wife Betsy, age 37, born in Brighton, were living 14 Randalls Rd., St. Mary's, Islington, London. With them were children Florence (9) of Brighton Sussex, and born in Islington London: Ethel (7), Herbert (6), Walter (9 mo).
At the time of the 1901 England Census Albert* Adams, age 45, born in Brighton Sussex, slater & tiler, and wife Betsy, age 47, born in Brighton, were living in Islington London. With them were children: Florence (19) of Brighton, Ethel (17) of Highgate London, Walter (11) of Highgate London.
* It seems likely the census taker misheard 'Albert' for 'Herbert'.
Elizabeth appears in the 1911 England Census, age 57, born in Brighton Sussex, married (35 years), mother of 14 children (12 deceased), and living at 92 Trafalgar Rd., Camberwell London. With her was daughter Florence Adams (29) of Brighton, a nurse, and granddaughter Ivy Adams (7) of King's Cross.
