In Feb 1832 Barbara Adams was a witness at the marriage of her brother John Adams to Frances Reed in Alfriston.
In Jul 1833 Barbara Adams was a witness at the marriage of her brother Robert Adams to Anna Maria Waters in Alfriston.
At the time of the 1841 England Census Barbara Adams, aged about 25, was with [her father] William Adams, aged about 60, carpenter, in Star Lane, Village, Alfriston Sussex.
At the time of the 1851 England Census Barbara Newman, age 38, born in Alfriston, and husband William Newman, age 55, born in Alfriston, out of business, were living in Kensington Gardens, Brighton, Sussex. With them were daughter Kate (8) of Brighton and relative* Sarah Vine (67) of Wilmington, widow.
* Sarah was Barbara's maternal aunt.
At the time of the 1861 England Census Barbara Tuppen, age 46, born in Alfriston, and husband Richard Tuppen, age 70, born in Brighton, butcher employing 1 man & 1 boy, were living at 9 Market St., Brighton.
